Making a difference through our Catallia Cares initiative
Our goal as a corporate citizen is to effect positive change socially, ethically and environmentally, by focusing on the three Cs that matter to our organization: community, compliance, and conservation.
Community: A commitment to social accountability
We take great pride in being a good steward of the communities in which we do business. We purchase from and partner with fellow Women-Owned, Minority-Owned and Small Businesses whenever possible. We work with PROACT, a local employment organization dedicated to helping disabled individuals find employment and improve their skills. In addition, we regularly donate product to the local Second Harvest Food Bank through our Tortilla Harvest program, which received the 2010 Hunger Hero award for innovation from Second Harvest Heartland.
Compliance: A commitment to ethical governance
Not only do we strive to create the highest quality products possible for our customers, we’re dedicated to providing a positive work environment for our associates. We adhere to the highest quality, food safety and worker safety standards in the industry, as demonstrated by our adherence to HACCP best practices and continuous compliance with state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
Conservation: A commitment to environmental awareness
Being a good steward of the community also means being mindful of the impact we have on the planet. We have implemented a number of environmentally friendly initiatives designed to reduce, reuse and recycle to lessen our overall carbon footprint:
- We work closely with utility providers to implement best practices that minimize the use of resources such as water, electricity and gas
- We invested in new plant and warehouse lighting technology to improve productivity and teammate morale, and reduce energy consumption
- We have recycling programs for cans, bottles, batteries, paper and cardboard to reduce the amount of waste we send to the landfill
